Step 1: Getting to Know You
Every standout brand starts with understanding the person behind it. That’s why we begin with my in-depth Brand Questionnaire, which is included in your Welcome page (a personal page on my website). This helps uncover crucial details like:
- What makes your business unique?
- Who is your target audience, and what are their interests?
The more I learn about your business and market, the better equipped I am to design a brand that truly resonates. During this stage I’ll also ask you to create a Pinterest Board which includes design styles and illustrations you love, giving me a clear picture of your vision. We’ll then take 45 minutes to explore your Questionnaire and Pinterest board during the Kick off call, during this call we’ll also refine your brand direction, and tackle any uncertainties. By the end of this stage, we’ll have a clear plan tailored to your goals and vision.
Step 2: The Research Deep Dive
This step lays the groundwork for an effective and memorable design. I gather all the insights from your Questionnaire and dig deeper into:
- Your competitors and industry trends
- The preferences and behaviours of your target demographic
- The aesthetics and brands you admire
As I explore different colour palettes, imagery, and themes, I collaborate on the Pinterest Board with you. This gives us an opportunity to refine and adjust the direction until it aligns perfectly with your vision. Think of this as sharpening the axe before chopping the tree—the time invested here pays off in spades during the design process. I’ll create a Creative Direction Proposal which means we’re both on the exact same page in terms of the potential outcome, we can revise this if you’re not happy with, I don’t move onto my next stage until you’re happy.
Step 3: Crafting the Concept
Now the creativity kicks into high gear. A strong concept is the backbone of any great brand, giving it purpose and depth. Using keywords from your Brief, I brainstorm, mind-map, and sketch to develop a solid foundation for your brand’s identity.
This is a hands-on and exploratory phase, where I’ll experiment with sketches and ideas until I hone in on one cohesive concept. By now, I understand your business so well that one concept is all we need to capture the essence of your brand. Depending on your preference, I can share elements from this stage with you and ask for input, or you can wait until I present the brand in your Brand Proposal.
Step 4: Bringing Your Brand to Life
Here’s where the magic happens! I refine the chosen concept and transform it into a polished, versatile brand identity. You’ll receive a professionally designed Brand Proposal that brings your brand’s potential to life. Depending on your package, this might include:
- Primary and secondary logos
- Typography and colour palettes
- Brand patterns and supporting graphics
- Mockups for websites, packaging, and social media
This proposal offers a clear, exciting vision of your brand in real-world applications. I’ll collect your feedback via email (we can also jump on a call to discuss everything) and incorporate any refinements during this phase. A key tip when providing feedback: Avoid design by committee—it’s best to focus on what resonates with your ideal audience, not the opinions of friends or family.
Step 5: Collateral and Delivery
Once your brand concept is finalised, I design the additional collateral included in your package. From business cards to social media design, each item is crafted to extend your brand seamlessly. You’ll have up to three revision rounds, but the whole process is so collaborative that we rarely need more.
When everything is perfect, I’ll deliver all your files, ready to use across platforms. With the final payment processed, your bold new brand is ready to make its debut and attract the clients you’ve always dreamed of.
