Mood board and creative direction

My aim was to create an exciting, bold and fun logo and brand that reflects the joy of parenthood. As this app makes parent’s lives much easier by organising and scheduling, I wanted the logo to reflect an ‘organised chaos’. Some letters are scrawly and scribbly, while others are more uniform and organised. The brand features every day items that resonate with parents, along with hand-drawn elements inspired by kid’s scribbles – bringing a playful, personal touch to the design. Initial sketches below show the logo taking shape.

Primary logo and alternatives

I used custom hand-lettering within the logo to create a unique, personality-filled identity. The words Pop and Pins are distinguished through colour, helping Pop stand out, while the shape above the “i” represents a pop and reinforces the brand name in a playful way.

Contrasting letterforms, from loose and scribbly to bold and structured, create movement and energy throughout the logo. The arrow used within the secondary and submark logos is inspired by children’s doodles and the act of parents jotting down notes and ideas.

The use of black is a nod to the pop art influences explored during the creative direction phase, adding contrast, impact and a subtle retro feel.

Colour palette

The colours have been chosen specifically to be punchy and loud. A feminine colour palette with a bright blue to contrast. This is a fun, loud, vibrant brand and the colours reflect that. Black plays in an important role in this brand, it helps all of the other colours pop.
